Covid-19 Rules At The Stars

Here is the plan that was discussed with OSHA/JCHA and approved by the club. In spite of all these precautions, there will be dancers who choose not to dance at this time. Some have underlying conditions that put them more at risk. Some just aren’t ready to get out on the dance floor yet. Whatever the reason, we MUST respect their choices. And we ask that they respect the choices of those who do choose to start dancing. We all care for each other. Let’s do it gently.

Here is what to expect.

  • Face coverings or face shields are to be worn at all times unless actively eating or drinking.
    • OHA now strongly recommends cloth face coverings rather than face shields
      • Cloth face coverings are more protective of others
    •  You cannot come into the building without one or the other
      • Face shields are available for purchase for $3.00 each
  • Temperatures will be taken for everyone at sign in
  • You will be asked to sign a dance waiver
  • Everyone must sign in, whether dancing or not
    • Contact information for Stars members is already on file
    • Anyone else will need to provide their contact information
  • If you plan to dance, you must sign into a square and dance only in that square the entire night
    •  Per discussion with Jackson County Health, this is a must do
    •  Groups up to ten can participate in an activity together without distancing
      • Each square can have up to two extra people to rotate in
    • Different groups must distance from other groups and cannot swap members
    • Each square can sit together during breaks without having to distance
  • The plan is to fill up a square, then another square, then another, etc.
    • Proper distancing allows for four squares on the floor at the same time
    • If the last people are not enough for a full square, they can sign up with a full square to rotate in (but no more that ten in any square)
    •  Signing up your pre-arranged friends is fine
    • Plan to rotate all dancers into the square if there are more than eight
    • Be gracious if this means you occasionally don’t dance with your usual partner
  • Once signed into a square, please sit down at the table assigned to that square
    • Squares will be color coded as will the tables
    • When it is time to “square up”, pre-sanitized dance noodles will be handed out
    • All dancers must use the noodles  (Check out our noodle dancing video here)
    • Gloves along with noodles are optional
  • Square up around the “X marks the spot” on the dance floor
    • As much as possible, keep your square centered on the “X” while dancing
  • Sanitizing or washing your hands before and after tips is strongly encouraged
